Dear Belmont Fans: The 2026 Belmont Stakes features a highly competitive nine-horse field highlighted by horses that have already won big races this year.   Because of renovations, the race returns to Saratoga Race Course. This changes the handicapping variables significantly. Instead of the old grueling 1½-mile “monster”, the race will be run at a shortened 1¼ miles course. The tighter turns and a shorter backstretch heavily favor horses having tactical early speed and saving ground skills over the pure closers.

Keep in mind, running a peaking, fresh horse against a tired crop of Triple Crown veterans always produces multi-favorites in the Belmont.

My analysis of these types has clearly produced TWO horses that precisely fit these requirements. Even though the two winning candidates have low odds, don’t fret- THERE IS MONEY TO BE MADE!  Some sharp exotic play using the two live longshots I found could make for a “Happy Day”. As always, I will give you my best picks to help you get there.
